Data Transit introduces Exerciser for Serial Attached SCSI(SAS) New Exerciser Platform complements leading industry SAS/SATA analysis solution San Jose, CA. (November 24, 2003) -- Data Transit Corporation, the leading supplier of SATA/SAS modular bus protocol analyzers introduces the 1.5 Gb/s SAS Packetmaker™II. This is a second generation traffic generator for simulating real world SAS traffic. All SAS protocols are supported including SSP, STP and SMP. In addition, support of the SATA specifications is a standard feature. This product makes a complete solution for test environments ranging from R&D, to manufacturing to production. SAS PacketMaker II is a 64-bit PCI card that operates in a 32 or 64-bit socket in a Windows based PC. This card can transmit and receive traffic on one to four SAS links with each link capable of emulating a host or device. Links can also be configured to work together or separately for wide port operation. In addition, two cards be can operated together to simulate up to 8 SAS links. This product gives engineers the ability to have synchronized control over multi-lane traffic and simulate real world devices. Errors such as CRC, 10b and disparity can be inserted at anytime in the packet stream. SAS Frames can also be altered to change parameters in fields, add additional fields or manipulate data fields with dynamic data. A simple-to-use yet powerful GUI interface can be used to create complex SAS packet streams. Users can expect an easy-to-use editor coupled with the capability to monitor packets and errors on the bus. The unique sequence control packets allow powerful test sequences for flow-control and hardware background management. Everything from changing how Align and Sync Primitives behave, to handshaking and credit flow management. In addition, a comprehensive and robust C-based API is available for development and deployment of automated scripts. "Data Transit Engineering has pushed hard to complete a wide port traffic generator in time for early SAS adopters" , said Dale Smith, Founder and CTO of Data Transit, "Thanks to significant input from key customers, we are confident that the PacketMaker II will accelerate time -to-market for those developing SAS products." Data Transit is accepting orders for this product and is planning on shipping beginning December 4, 2003. Contact Data Transit for additional information.
