Data Transit Announces the SAS Validation Tool Developers can now look to a SAS Validation suite to help with Protocol Compliance. SAS Plugfest, University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory, Durham, NH. (June 21, 2004) -- Data Transit Corporation, the leader in SAS and SATA Analysis and Traffic Generators, introduces a SAS Verification Suite aimed at helping engineers with SAS based product development. This Test suite, called the SAS Validation Tool(SVT), provides validation tests that cover the PHY, link, transport and application levels of the SAS protocol. This software works in concert with the SAS PacketMaker, a 4 port traffic generator card that supports the SSP, SMP and STP protocols.
Developing with a new protocol can be very challenging. The SAS protocol, targeted for the storage industry, has been touted as one of the more advanced protocols to come out in recent years. Featuring more primitives, frames and timeout conditions the SAS protocol is much more complex than previous protocols such as Fibre Channel and SATA. The availability of a test tool that can thoroughly step through "what if situations" can definitely speed the process of product validation and protocol verification. "Anybody who needs to verify their SAS implementation will quickly understand why the SVT is indispensable," said Dale Smith, Founder, President and CTO of Data Transit, "The SVT saves our customers months in the time-to-market quest, and reduces the time required to perform regression tests whenever firmware is modified." The SVT software validates hardware through an extensive battery of tests which are derived from the SAS specification. Some of the tests are combined together specifically within a layer of the protocol to intrinsically test that particular layer. Others are meant to test across protocol layer boundaries. All in all the SVT is a powerful tool for verification test. Data Transit will showcase the SVT at the SAS Plug Fest from June 21 through the 25th in Durham, NH. Orders are being accepted for the SVT with a ship date beginning July 1, 2004. Please contact Data Transit or one of its worldwide distribution partners for pricing information.
